LOCATION AND LOCAL ACTIVITIES

Moongate is located on Mount Leinster, in one of the most visually stunning parts of the country. It benefits from the magnificent elevated position with breathtaking views over the dreamy rambling countryside. The house itself lies between Muine bheag and the quaint village of Borris which provide local amenities and services. A short drive away is the County town of Carlow and also the spectacular medieval city of Kilkenny, both housing a wide range of shopping and recreational facilities.
There is a respectable range of bus and train services to and from Dublin and to other major cities and landmarks in Ireland.
The sandy beaches of the East coast are also in close proximity. The area offers an impressive selection of outdoor pursuits and entertainment all to a very high standard. Quad biking, hand gliding, fly fishing horse riding and mountain walking are popular pastimes.
Located in excellent sporting country there is hunting locally with the Carlows and the Kilkennys.
For the race-goer Gowran Park Race Course is only 30 minutes away while the Curragh, Naas and Punchestown are all within an hours drive. Mount Juliet Estate with its championship golf course is close by and other courses in the area include Carlow and Mount Wolsely.
The River Barrow which flows nearby offers good course and some trout fishing, it is also a well known cruising river. Historical places of interest such as Kilkenny Castle are also in abundance. We would be more than happy to organise any of these activities for you and your party.

DIRECTIONS TO MOONGATE FROM DUBLIN AIRPORT

From Airport take M1 south, for 1/4 mile towards Dublin.

Leave M1 at 1st exit, for the M50,join M50 third exit off roundabout.

From Dublin centre follow signs for the N7 & Naas!!

Continue on M50 past toll bridge, leave at exit/junction 9, (which is badly sign posted) for Naas & the N7.

Continue south on the N7, after (approx 15 minutes/10 MILES) it then becomes the M7 motorway.

Follow motorway (approx 5 minutes/6 MILES), take the second exit, signed posted M9 to Carlow.

Motorway continues for (2 minutes/2MILES), it then becomes the N9 & is approx. (25 minutes/20 MILES) to Carlow,Just follow the course of the road. On the way you'll pass through a small town called Castledermot.
Into Carlow. Go straight over two roundabouts and go straight through Carlow town, following the road straight ahead.

Continue out of the town on the same road, after approx 10 minutes/5 miles your pass 3 exits for Leighlandbridge.

The next town is Bagenalstown leave the N9 on your left. (IT IS LOCATED HALF WAY BETWEEN CARLOW & KILKENNY)

If coming from Kilkenny on the N9, go through Paulstown and turn right (approx. 2 minutes/2 miles along the N9) for Bagenalstown.

Go straight into the town, after petrol station on the right, turn right at the cross roads, continue straight for 1/4 mile taking your first left, signed to Corries Cross. From here you should follow the course of the road for 7.8 miles (Remember check the odometer) around 7.8 miles start looking for a left turn signed to Mount Leinster/nine stones/tv mast.

Moongate is situated nearly a quarter of a mile on the left, pull into the court yard at the end of the property.
