Moongate Location, Tomduff, County Carlow, South East Ireland
If your search for "authentic" Ireland has thus far eluded you, you'll find it in Moongate's stunning location. Stone walls, sheep, rolling mist, the cry of a buzzard, the ever-changing light and cloud shadow moving on the hills. Simply put, Ireland at its best.
Moongate is located on the flank of Mount Leinster, the second highest mountain in Ireland, in one of the most visually stunning parts of the country. It benefits from this magnificent elevated position with breathtaking views over the dreamy, rambling countryside. The house itself lies between Bagenalstown "Muinebheag" and the quaint Georgian village of Borris which provide local amenities and services, along with peerless traditional Irish pubs such as Joyces, Daltons and O'Sheas. Borris pubs often host traditional music at weekends.
It is easy to forget that Moongate is a mere 20 mile drive away from the medieval city of Kilkenny and is within an easy drive from Counties Waterford, Wexford and Tipperary - each with their own charms and attractions. If you are taking it easy, there are romantic and sedate country walks to be enjoyed just moments from the door. (See some local places to visit here)
